The best solar battery for most Nigerian homes in 2026 is a 48V 100Ah (about 5kWh) LiFePO4 lithium pack from Felicity, Dyness or Deye. These packs are rated for about 6,000 cycles and cost roughly ₦1,050,000 to ₦1,500,000 in October 2026. On a tight budget, four Luminous or Felicity 220Ah tall tubular batteries still work. For premium storage with the widest inverter support, Pylontech is the long-standing choice.
Quick answer
- Best budget (tubular): Luminous 220Ah–230Ah tall tubular, with 24 months’ warranty on its solar range.
- Best value lithium: Felicity LPBA48100 (5.12kWh, 6,000+ cycles), backed by service centres in at least 11 states.
- Best with a Deye inverter: Deye SE-G5.1 Pro-B (5.12kWh, 10-year warranty).
- Best premium: Pylontech US5000 (4.8kWh, 6,000+ cycles at 90% depth of discharge).
- Prices: see our solar battery price guide for full naira prices by size and brand.
This page helps you decide which battery to buy. It does not try to list every price. For that, our solar battery price in Nigeria page is updated with market prices for tubular, gel and lithium batteries.
How did we pick the best solar batteries in Nigeria?
We did not test these batteries ourselves. We compared published spec sheets, warranty terms and Nigerian retailer listings, and looked at four things that matter most here:
- Cycle life: how many full charges the battery is rated for. With NEPA supply often under 12 hours a day, your battery may cycle every single night.
- Warranty and local service: a 10-year warranty means little if nobody in Lagos, Abuja or PH will honour it.
- Inverter compatibility: lithium packs talk to the inverter through a BMS link (CAN or RS485). A pack your inverter can’t read will charge poorly.
- Availability: whether you can actually buy it in Nigeria from more than one seller.

What is the best budget solar battery in Nigeria?
Pick: Luminous tall tubular (220Ah or 230Ah). Tubular batteries are still the cheapest way to get backup today. Luminous has been sold in Nigeria through Simba Group for more than 10 years, and its solar tall tubular range carries a 24-month warranty. Felicity’s FSTB-24000 220Ah is a good alternative if you already run a Felicity inverter.
The catch is usable energy. A 12V 220Ah battery stores 12 × 220 = 2,640Wh, but you should only use about half, or 1,320Wh. You also need to top up distilled water and expect about 3 to 5 years of life. See our Luminous inverter and battery guide for models.
What is the best value lithium battery in Nigeria?
Pick: Felicity LPBA48100 (48V, 5.12kWh). It is rated for more than 6,000 cycles and is sold almost everywhere, from Alaba to Garki. Felicity lists service centres in Lagos, Abuja, Port Harcourt, Enugu, Kano and several other cities, which matters more than a long warranty on paper. Nigerian stores advertise 5 years’ warranty; Felicity’s own policy allows up to 10, so get the period written on your receipt.
One thing to check: Felicity’s larger LPBF 10kWh pack is rated for about 3,000 cycles, half the LPBA figure. If you need 10kWh, two LPBA packs in parallel may be the better buy. Our Felicity Solar guide covers the full range.
Is Dyness a good lithium battery?
Pick for mixed systems: Dyness DL5.0C. It is a 51.2V, 100Ah LiFePO4 pack (5.12kWh) rated for over 6,000 cycles at 90% depth of discharge. Nigerian sellers list it as compatible with Deye, Victron, Goodwe and SMA inverters, and up to 50 units can run in parallel. It weighs about 54kg, so plan for a strong floor stand or rack. Dyness is less common in Nigerian shops than Felicity, so confirm who handles warranty claims before you buy.
Which battery is best for a Deye, Growatt or Must inverter?
- Deye inverter: the Deye SE-G5.1 Pro-B (5.12kWh, about 4.6kWh usable, 6,000+ cycles, 10-year warranty, about 45kg) talks to Deye hybrids without setup fuss.
- Must inverter: the Must LP16-48100 is a 51.2V 100Ah pack rated for at least 6,000 cycles, with a 5-year standard warranty and CAN, RS485, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth. See our Must inverter guide.
- Growatt inverter: Growatt’s own lithium is not widely stocked in Nigeria. Pylontech is a common, well-supported match. Check your model’s battery list in our Growatt inverter guide.
What is the best premium solar battery in Nigeria?
Pick: Pylontech US5000. Each 48V module stores 4.8kWh, with 4.56kWh usable, and is rated for more than 6,000 cycles at 90% depth of discharge. Pylontech’s main strength is that most hybrid inverter brands list it as compatible, so it is a safe choice if you may change inverter later. Warranty listings vary between 7 and 10 years depending on the region, so confirm what your Nigerian dealer will honour. Expect to pay more than for Felicity or Dyness.
For banks and hospitals that need very long backup, sealed OPzV or flooded OPzS batteries are another premium option. See our OPzS and OPzV battery guide.
Should I buy lithium or tubular?
Compare what you get for the money. Four 220Ah tubulars on a 48V inverter store 48 × 220 = 10,560Wh, but only about 5,280Wh is safe to use. One 5.12kWh lithium pack gives about 4,600Wh usable at 90% depth of discharge. So the usable energy is similar, and the upfront cost is in the same range.
The difference is life. A lithium pack rated for 6,000 cycles, used once a night, could last over 15 years on paper; in practice expect 10 or more. Tubulars usually need replacing every 3 to 5 years. That is why we recommend lithium for most homes that can afford it, and tubular for buyers who need the lowest cost today.
How much do the best solar batteries cost?
In October 2026, a new Luminous 220Ah–230Ah tubular sells for about ₦280,000 to ₦370,000, and most 5kWh lithium packs from Felicity, Dyness and similar brands sell for roughly ₦1,050,000 to ₦1,500,000. Prices change with the naira; confirm with the seller. For every size and brand, see the solar battery price guide.
How do I avoid fake or refurbished batteries?
- Price check: a lithium pack far below the usual range is often refurbished or has recycled cells.
- Spec sheet: ask for the datasheet and match the model number, cycle rating and weight. A light “5kWh” pack is a warning sign.
- Date code: tubulars sitting in a shop for over six months may already have lost capacity.
- Paperwork: get the serial number, warranty period and installation date written on your receipt.

Frequently asked questions
Which lithium battery brand is best in Nigeria?
For most homes, Felicity offers the best mix of price, availability and local service. Deye is best if you own a Deye inverter, and Pylontech is the premium pick with the widest inverter support.
How many 5kWh batteries do I need?
Divide your night-time load by about 4,600Wh per pack. A 500W load for 10 hours needs 5,000Wh, so two packs, or one pack plus some grid or solar top-up in the evening.
Can I mix lithium and tubular batteries?
No. They charge at different voltages and the inverter can only follow one battery setting. Replace the whole bank, or keep them on separate inverters.
Do lithium batteries handle Nigerian heat?
LiFePO4 handles heat better than lead-acid, but heat still shortens any battery’s life. Keep the pack indoors, shaded and ventilated, never in direct sun or a hot generator house.
