Luminous is one of the oldest inverter names in Nigerian homes. Many families bought a small Luminous inverter and a tubular battery years ago to beat NEPA outages, before solar became common. This page lists current Luminous prices by size, explains which model fits your home, and gives an honest review. To compare Luminous with every other brand, see our solar inverter price list.

| 12kVA solar inverter | 48V | about ₦1,500,000 | Heavy loads; check spec sheet |
Single prices (“about”) come from one or two listings, so treat them as a guide. Prices change with the naira; confirm with the seller before you pay. Zit lists the Cruze 3.5kVA at ₦333,680 with a 1-year warranty, but it was out of stock when we checked.
Which Luminous inverter size do I need?
Add up the watts of everything you want to run at the same time. An inverter can carry about 80% of its kVA rating as steady load. So a 3.5kVA unit handles about 3,500 × 0.8 = 2,800W, and a 5kVA unit about 4,000W. Leave some room for fridges and pumps, which pull extra power when they start.
- 1kVA–1.5kVA: a self-contain or shop. Example: 3 fans (225W) + TV and decoder (150W) + 6 LED bulbs (60W) = 435W.
- 2.8kVA–3.6kVA: a 2-bedroom flat with a fridge, fans, TV, lights and two laptops, about 700–1,000W.
- 4kVA–5kVA: a 3-bedroom home with a freezer and a pumping machine, or one 1HP AC at night.
- 6kVA and above: duplexes, offices and homes that want two ACs on inverter.

How much are Luminous batteries in Nigeria?
Luminous is best known for its tall tubular batteries. These are 12V lead-acid batteries, so a 24V inverter needs two and a 48V inverter needs four.
| Battery | Type | Price range (₦) |
|---|---|---|
| 220Ah 12V tall tubular (Inverlast, Voltcharge Plus) | Wet cell, new | ₦290,000 – ₦350,000 |
| 230Ah 12V Inverlast Plus | Wet cell, new | ₦280,000 – ₦370,000 |
| 220Ah Inverlast (online store, delivered) | New | up to about ₦435,000 |
| Fairly used 220Ah Luminous | Used | ₦145,000 – ₦180,000 (not recommended) |
Here is the battery maths for a Cruze 3.5kVA. Four 12V 220Ah batteries store 48V × 220Ah = 10,560Wh. You should only use about half of a tubular battery, so that is about 5,280Wh. A 500W evening load (fans, TV, lights and a fridge) runs for about 5,280 ÷ 500 = 10 hours. That costs about 4 × ₦320,000 = ₦1,280,000 in batteries.
Fairly used batteries are cheap for a reason. Most have lost much of their capacity, and you get no warranty. For tubular versus lithium prices across all brands, see our solar battery price guide.
Is Luminous a good inverter brand?
Luminous is an Indian brand. Simba Group, a Nigerian company, has distributed it here for more than 10 years. In October 2025, Simba and Luminous launched a new range of solar inverters and lithium batteries in Lagos. That long history means parts and technicians are easy to find in most cities.
Luminous is strongest at the small and mid sizes: inverter-UPS units for homes that charge from NEPA and need a quiet backup for a few hours. Its large solar hybrid range is newer and less common in Nigerian shops than Felicity, Growatt or Deye. If you want a big solar-first system with app monitoring, compare it with our best solar inverter in Nigeria picks first.
What are the pros and cons of Luminous inverters?
| Pros | Cons |
|---|---|
| Long track record in Nigeria through Simba Group | Inverter warranty is often only 1 year from sellers; confirm in writing |
| Easy to find technicians and parts | Large solar hybrid models are harder to find than Felicity or Growatt |
| Good, affordable small inverters for NEPA backup | Many older and inverter-UPS models have no or limited solar input |
| Tall tubular batteries with 24 months’ warranty | Tubular batteries need distilled water and last about 3–5 years |
| Pure sine wave on Cruze and newer models | Wide price gaps between sellers for the same model |
Luminous vs Felicity: which should I buy?
Choose Luminous if you mainly want backup from NEPA for a small or mid-size home, and you like the idea of one brand for inverter and tubular batteries. Choose Felicity if you are building a solar system now: its hybrid inverters, lithium batteries and panels are stocked almost everywhere and it has service centres in at least 11 states. See our Felicity Solar price guide for its full range.

What warranty does Luminous give in Nigeria?
- Inverters: Zit lists 1 year on the Cruze 3.5kVA. Some dealers offer longer cover, so ask and get the period written on your receipt.
- Solar tall tubular batteries: 24 months, according to Simba Group’s launch announcement.
- Proof: keep the receipt, the serial number and the installation date. A warranty is hard to claim without them.
Where can I buy a genuine Luminous inverter?
- Simba Group channel partners: the official distributor’s dealers are the safest route for warranty claims.
- Online: Zit, Jumia and Konga list Luminous inverters and batteries with delivery.
- Markets: Alaba International (Lagos), plus Ikeja and Isolo dealers on Jiji, often have the lowest prices. Ask for a load test before you pay.
- Red flags: a price far below the ranges above, a missing serial number or no warranty card.
